The Sanatorium farm had poultry and dairy cows. Farm produce (vegetables, milk, cream and eggs) was used by both the Sanatorium and the hospital. Arthur Lumley was the second farm manager, from 1932. He had been a dairyman at the farm. He and his wife Winfred, a nurse at the Sanatorium, were reported to be the hub of social life there.
