A field of Otaki Pink carnations being grown commercially alongside the Main Highway, Otaki, on the site of the present day Information Centre/Gallery, c1933.
The Railway Hotel can be seen in the distance. Shown in the photo gathering flowers are Phylis and Ray Moffatt (children, left), Winston (man wearing braces and hat, centre) and three other people (one is probably Julia Moffatt, the grandmother of Ray and Phyllis).
The garden was leased by Winston (surname unknown) who was the partner of Julia Moffatt (nee Whiley).
